Bozhentsi is laying roughly between Gabrovo and Trayvna. It is cluster of two-storey houses with stone roofs wooden verandahs. According to the legend, Bozhentsi was founded by survivors of the fall of Tarnovo, led by the noblewoman Bozhena and her nine sons. During the second part of the nineteenth century Bojenci grew prosperous through the enterprise of its smiths, potters, weavers, and local merchants who traded as far afield as Russia and Hungary. There are well over a hundred listed buildings in Bojentsi, but the main highlight are the kashtata na Doncho Popa, the early nineteen-century home of wool merchant, the Baba Kostadinova House, a much more humble dwelling which showcases the frugal lifestyle of the rural majority, and the various work-shops used by the village artisans.
