The village of Yagodina lies in the western part of the Rhodopi mountain, close to the border with Greece. It is situated about 26 km to the south of the town of Devin and 226 km to the southeast of Sofia. The road to Yagodina passes through the amazing Byunovsko gorge, towering over both sides of the Buynovka river. Yagodina is a small, modern village, nestling in the hills beneath the St Iliya peak to the north and the Durdaga peak to the south. The biggest landmark of the village is the famous Yagodinska cave, also known as the Imam's Hole (Imamova Dupka). The cave has been molded by the Buynova river that further grows into the Vucha river. The river has patiently worked on the marble rock for millions of years in order to produce a true masterpiece that spreads over 5 levels and has a total length of 10.5km. Here archeologists have discovered traces of an Eneolithic cave settlement (4th millennium BC) while visitors can enjoy the view of popular and rare rock formations such as stalagmites, stalactites, cave pearls, elephant ears, leopard fur, and many more.
