SOPOT - Bulgaria » The town of Sopot is situated below the southern slopes of the Central Balkan Range in the valley of Karlovo. It is 5 km west of Karlovo, 63 km north of Plovdiv, 136 km east of Sofia and 61 km south of Troyan. Sopot is the birthplace of Ivan Vazov - the patriarch of the Bulgarian literature. Tourists can visit Ivan Vazov's house-museum in the centre. St Spas Monastery is 2 km northwest of the town. Dyado Stoyanov's Water Mill is in the northwest part of the town. Other places worth seeing in Sopot are the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul Church (1846), Hadzhi Stoilkov's House, Hadzhi Stoynov's House, Kirkov's House, Kopanovs' House, Hadzhi Kotyov's House, Konov's bakery.
